A photograph by Philip Pacheco from mid-September 2020 shows a view of California during the wildfires. While countless fires burned throughout the mountains, an eerie red sky cast a sanguine veil over the whole scene. The picture was taken within days of when Mars had turned retrograde in its domicile of Aries. Immediately following the stationing, a fire-derived vermilion haze transformed the Californian landscape into Martian terrain. Of the ten main planets, Mars is the hottest, driest, and most aggressive. Aries is a cardinal fire sign, exuding impulsive action and intense heat through its combination of modality and element. With Mars retrograde in Aries, spontaneous wildfires manifesting out of thin air seem not just possible, but surprisingly logical.
